When you think of the Northern Irish Style Scene, the mind wanders towards stylists and make up artists. An ideal combination. When the two become friends, it’s a fashion force to be reckoned with!
This May, Belfast makeup artist Stevey Lennox and stylist, turned breakfast radio presenter, Rebecca McKinney launch ‘The Style Edit’ in The Fitzwilliam Hotel. An event created by friends, to be experienced with friends!
Rebecca and Stevey met on location in Lanzarote at a photoshoot for the Sunday Life ‘Covergirl’ competition.
Two very different people became an unlikely duo, who have been by each others’ side through years of growing up and finding their feet in the Northern Irish fashion scene.
Working together on shoots, shows and campaigns bonded the two girls through the years and now the time is right to hold an event for fans of both fashion and beauty.
Stevey is a freelance makeup up artist, who works from her studio at home and Rebecca runs her personal styling business around her media commitments. Making women feel great about themselves is the main objective of both their jobs.
Rebecca said, ‘Our aim is to host an indulgent evening where our guests can fully immerse themselves in clothes that they can actually afford and lipstick that they can learn to apply properly, without feeling the pressure. Stevey and I have made so many fashion faux pas over the years and learnt so much about the industry, and about each other, that we are really looking forward to sharing a bit of our knowledge and having a really fun evening in gorgeous surroundings, with anyone who would like to join us. Plus the cocktails will be great!’
Guests will be treated to a Shortcross gin reception in the lobby of the Fitzwilliam Hotel, with gin cocktails to sip on throughout the salon style fashion show. The girls have booked their favourite models and called in friends of the industry to join them. Peter Mark will be styling the hair on the evening and fashion will feature from Reiss, Ted Baker, Coast, Warehouse, Mango and Banbridge boutique, the Walk In Wardrobe. Khiels are supplying a treat for every guest as they leave.
Stevey says, ‘I always joke with Rebecca about her inability to make her eyebrows match and she’s constantly trying to get me out of the black clothes, but that’s what friends do and we hope people will see how close we are and want to join in on the fun for a few hours. I can’t wait to share makeup tips and tricks that I’ve learnt working on so many faces over the years and we are looking forward to doing live transformations on some of our guests during the evening.’
Tickets for the Spring/ Summer edition of ‘The Style Edit’ are available online and you can check out both girls’ Instagram pages for more details and sneak peeks!
