They say there are a few dates in a fashion lover's diary when things get a little out of hand, the first week of the sales and the first week of the new season. It's official folks, I am in that place. Even looking at the pile of various high heels thrown in the corner of my room right now and my feet are crying at me! Now don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but a stylist life is a little bit like waiting for buses, you're looking at your watch for ages and the all of a sudden three 4A's Metro services directly into Donegal Square West come at once 😊 So here's a little run down of what I've been up to for anyone who is trying to throw themselves out of black and into spring as much as I am!
The Merchant Fabulous Fashion Teas Macaroons, clothes and champers have to be the best combination and it certainly seemed that way to all the girls who headed to The Merchant Hotel this week to attend the Fashion Teas. I'm not long back from the effortlessly classy Lunn's jewellery show, that tempted us all with amazing David Yurman pieces over a glass of Veuve Clicquot. Yesterday my friend's boutique The Walk In Wardrobe from Banbridge came to Belfast and her collection was a gorgeous, girly mix of florals, brights and occasion wear that ticks every possible attendance box to any invitations you may receive this season. It's always such a pleasure to style her show, not only because she's my very dear friend, but because the stock is F.A.B! If it was my Walk in Wardrobe for real, I'd be happy!
Marshes in Dundalk Spring Campaign Spring campaigns are always my favourite to shoot because you can play around with colour and cutesy looks always work for this time of the year. I spent 2 days in Dundalk shooting a gorgeous new lifestyle campaign for Marshes Shopping Centre. It's amazing what you can pull together from the high street. DV8, New Look, River Island and Primark outfits were some of my favourite, especially this pale pink duster coat that I picked up for myself (I always end up falling in love with the clothes) It was only £20 from Primark! Keep your eyes peeled to my Instagram when the campaign goes live.
St Patricks Day Celebrations in Belfast The Cool BREAKFAST boys and I had a ball down in Custom House Square on Friday to mark St Patrick's Day in Belfast. Despite the rain, it really didn't dampen spirits and in between hosting the concert, we were joined by girlband Stooshe, XFactor favs Reggie & Bollie and the ridiculously hot Fleur East! She nailed it and danced her way through 8 songs in a very brave red catsuit. We spent some time with her after her set and she was so lovely, with the whitest teeth I've ever seen (coconut oil washed around her mouth every morning is apparently the secret!) She was so down to earth and headed to the Harp Bar that night for a bit of Belfast banter, which we love! Fleur is welcome back anytime!
Style Pick of The Week I hosted a style spotting night in Belfast for Translink, to mark the launch of their 'Smart Movers' campaign. I had to match the stylish commuters in Belfast, so thought I'd go for some spring brights. This floral jumpsuit from The Walk In Wardrobe in Banbridge was the comfiest thing to wear and I instantly fell in love with this Warehouse pink leather jacket. Both pieces under £60! Inject some Spring into your wardrobe, I dare you!
SWOT Fashion Show I graduated from Queen's University a few years ago now (try 8 years) but now I want to go back and become a medical student! These guys know how to put on a good show! Pete Snodden and I were asked to host their annual SWOT Fashion Show to raise money for all the students to go on their electives and take whatever funds are raised around the world to hospitals and communities who need it the most. The students and their supporters managed to raise 70K and we were truly honoured to be even a tiny part of the evening! I was inspired by how talented, hard working and genuinely lovely these guys were (I'm still saying that after they managed to rope me into a dance routine on stage with all of the male medical students!) Well done to everyone at QUB and thanks for having us. Same time again next year? PS: Thanks for giving me an excuse to wear my favourite AQ/AQ white jumpsuit again - it needed a special occasion!
Wilde at The Westbury Last Saturday night I stole my MILF friend away from her husband and gorgeous baby son for a proper girls night in Dublin. I've now decided I'd quite like to live in The Westbury, like a Northern Irish Paris Hilton, with way less money, zero plastic surgery and no love whatsoever for small dogs. Lauren and I had dinner in WILDE, the prettiest restaurant in Dublin. Developed in the new part of the hotel, you can sip cocktails and over look Grafton Street at night. The décor is seriously beaut too, with ivy growing over the window frames and tiny birds perched in every corner. I'd recommend the steak and a Crème Brule for desert, washed down with as many pear and amaretto sours as you can handle - you have to remain a lady in these gorgeous surroundings you know ;-)
FASHIONWEEK All Access Belfast Fashion Week kicks off on Thursday with catwalk shows that evening and on Friday night, showcasing the best of the Northern Irish high street, boutiques and local designers. There are 3 cool, bespoke styling events taking place over the weekend too, so if you fancy getting up close and personal with the brains behind the shows, then tickets are still available for LAVAZZA Style Saturday brunch in Robinson & Cleaver, Sushi Saturday in Zen and Style Sunday in Coco (the perfect Mother's Day gift if you've forgotten!) If you're coming to any of the shows, make sure to say hi and if you can't make it, I'll be giving you the full rundown on the blog next week so you don't miss out!
Have a great week,
Lots of love, Rebecca x
