Fashionweek via Dubai
Hey everyone, I hope you've had a much more productive day than me! After an amazing, but crazy busy 10days, I've spent today in my own house, sleeping from noon (on the sofa in a hoodie like a hungover student - minus the vodka red bulls the night before) and having a Sex and the City marathon with all the episodes I've never seen before. I feel rejuvenated by Carrie already, so hopefully she's inspired me to write a half decent blog today!
Last week I spent 5days in Dubai with the girls and we had a ball. It had been somewhere on our wish list for a while, so if you're thinking of visiting you have to go! Guaranteed sunshine all year round & a jaw dropping city scape with a beach to match - what more could you want? We stayed out in a resort, Sofitel Dubai The Palm Resort & Spa with a view right onto the beach and 12minute taxi from downtown Dubai. Walking along that beach with a cocktail in hand was something out of a movie, the Atlantis on one side behind me and the silhouette of the Burj Khalifa on the other. It was official, I loved Dubai!
We spent most of our days on the beach or by the pool, bar one; when we ventured to Atlantis The Palm, Dubai to experience the 'Dubai brunch' we had heard so much about. Now this is a day you have to prep for. You spend about £120 each, but then have unlimited food and drink all day long. And when I say whatever you want, I mean whatever you want! Pimms cups, champagne, Absolute vodka, watermelons & coconuts filled with cocktails! It is crazy! As for the food, there's Indian, Chinese, sushi, breakfast, lunch, desert! And all so beautifully done, this isn't like a buffet at home. We loved it because everyone is so chatty (unlimited drinks help!) and then the day finishes in the nightclub in The Atlantis, Ndulge. I'm proud of us for lasting through the partying, but it was definitely one of our favourite Dubai days. Brunch is a must if you're visiting, just pace yourself!
We were a bit unsure about the dress code in Dubai and how strict it would be, but luckily one of my girls has been living there for the last 6months, so she kept us right. In the hotels & resorts, beachwear is fine, but if you're heading downtown to go shopping, just throw on a little scarf to cover up your shoulders. On nights out, we wore looks that we would at home, but just remember it's still so hot at night so dresses work well. A few beach clubs to add to the list. We headed to Zero Gravity on the Friday night, which is a beach club during the day & an outdoor club at night. Jonas Blue was on stage there when we arrived and the acts are always amazing, so it's worth paying a visit if you fancy partying under the stars (and sky scrapers).
On our last day we had the perfect chilled afternoon at Blue Marlin. They've taken the original Ibiza concept and put it on a beach in Dubai, so for £55 you can chill out all afternoon and enjoy unlimited wine, tapas and jugs of cocktails and sangria until 4pm. Everyone takes their glasses to the sea & the atmosphere is amazing. I think it's one of my favourite ways to wash away a hangover!
Belfast Fashion Week is Back
I had no time for Dubai blues, as I flew straight home and was back into work, with Cool FM Breakfast and West Coast Cooler NI Fashionweek in full flow!
BFW is always one of the standout dates in my working calendar and I love being able to get up on stage and host the shows and various style events over the 4days. It ticks all of my fashion boxes and with style from our high street, local designers and beautiful boutiques, it's always cool to see how much Northern Ireland invests in their style.
I always like to mix it up with my hosting looks, so for Thursday's designer show I wore sparkly trousers from ASOS and a black ZARA tuxedo blazer. Friday's show was an epic, midnight blue Rebecca Rhodes maxi dress with an added gold belt from my own wardrobe (Thanks to The Walk In Wardrobe Online for that showstopper) On Saturday night I joined The People's Catwalk in high waisted side split trousers and a lilac crop top from online brand AQ/AQ. Style Sunday's look was a purple ruffle dress from The Walk in Wardrobe in Banbridge and the most comfortable heels of all time, my Valentino rock studs. Hope you all approve!
Thanks to Cathy and CMPR for having me as part of the team for Season 22!
This week is a bit of a wind down, so I'm looking forward to having a bit of time at home and some Halloween fun with work and the girls at the weekend. I'm probably tired enough I could go as a zombie breakfast radio presenter and scare myself for Halloween haha! Hope you have a spooky one.
Lots of love, Rebecca x
