Cheers to thirty years
Spending a few days in a different city is good for the soul. I'm just about coming back down to earth after my birthday and the amazingly kind people I have in my life. I'm so grateful to everyone who sent messages over my 30th and wished me well. I really appreciate anyone who took the time. Thank you! I'll not bore you with all the Big 3-0 details, but I will say that I have been blown away by the general loveliness of my friends and family.
I haven't planned a birthday party for myself for as long as I can remember, well actually never, so when I knew I was turning 30, I wanted to have a big party and get everyone together. Any excuse!
Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast was the perfect venue and we took over the bar last Saturday night, with cheesy tunes and as many balloons as you could cram into one space. I had an amazing night and literally danced until I could no longer feel my feet! A big shout out to Johnny Seeds for the killer soundtrack ;-)
I've had lots of lovely messages asking about my birthday look. My dress was a back up from Celeb Boutique, as the original dress I wanted was sold out, but I ended up liking this one more when I tried it on. Their bandage fabric is ah-mazing for creating a tiny waist!
My makeup was done by my super talented friend Stevey Lennox, she always creates a look for me that is a little twist on my favourite 'smokey eye & nude lip'. I loved it! Check her out on Instagram if you ever need makeup inspo.
I wanted Kim Kardashian West structured waves, but they never last a full night with me. The key to success is having your hair pinned and set in rollers overnight. I may have got lots of funny looks running around on Saturday morning with my rollers in,but the end result was worth it. Having Great Lengths UK extensions just add so much body without damaging my own hair. They mean that my hairdresser Denise, simply runs a brush through it and the waves sit in a gorgeously 1940's shape. If you're interested in Great Lengths, then Michelle International is the place to go.
Anyone who knows me will agree that shoes are my thing, so when I fell in love with the Sophia Webster angel wing sandals I couldn't wait to wear them to turn 30! They're almost too pretty to put on :-) They finished off my birthday look!
I've never made a secret of how much I love Paris and spending a month in France during the Euros in June isn't quite the same as having the free time to enjoy the hidden gems of the city. You can imagine how excited I was when I flew to the most stylish city in the world on Monday.
Disneyland is always on my list, but this time I managed to stay until the end of the day and see the fireworks. Now talk about pulling on the emotional heart strings! Take a bow Walt Disney! I cried! A 30 year old in pink sparkly Minnie Mouse Ears, crying as Pete Pan flys across the Disney Castle chasing his shadow. Where all the dreams you dream of can come true! I'm literally welling up just thinking about it.
The shopping is epic, the sites are timeless and if you get beautiful weather, then there is no where else in Europe I'd rather enjoy a glass of wine. On my final night in Paris I stayed in the most beautiful place I have ever seen.
Shangri-La Hotel, Paris is out of this world, with views of the Eiffel Tower that take your breath away! Beyoncé stayed in the suite above last month and Kim & Kanye dine in the hotel's double Michelin star restaurant. You can see why! I felt a little too common at dinner, when they brought a special seat over for my handbag!! Talk about an East Belfast girl out of her depth!
A lasting memory of turning 30 will be sitting on that balcony in Paris eating the most gorgeous macaroon's I have ever tasted and watching the Eiffel Tower twinkle. I think it's my favourite place in the world. And makes anything stressful you may come home to that little bit more bearable.
Thanks so much to everyone for the birthday love! Have a great week!
Love, Rebecca xx
